Haunted? Yes, by an
11-12 year old girl, and with residual imprints of a doctor
that occasionally appear.
This house, which is
registered with the historical society, was supposedly built
in 1910. Dr. Patrick King, a well-known doctor and good friends
with The McLoughlin's (in nearby Oregon City) supposedly built
and lived in the house. Dr. King owned not only the house, but
also the large surrounding property, which is now a hospital.
By the current structure of the home itself, complete with a
few odd inconsistencies such as outside windows in all the closets,
and basements doors that lock from the inside, it is fairly
apparent that Dr. King did a lot of his "doctoring"
from within the home. The form of Dr. King- carrying his black
doctor's bag, as well as being dressed in vintage clothing,
has been seen by the current residences as well as previous
ones. Following the same routine and never interacting with
anyone, the Doctor's residual apparition was not the reason
we were initially contacted.
There's a girl ghost in
the house, aged between 11-12 that is not very nice. She has
appeared to members of the family, wearing a dirty, torn white
dress with white gloves. We are calling her "Sophia"-
a name she agreed upon during our visit.
Sophia has been heard
yelling, knocking, and stomping around the house loudly, especially
when the owner's daughter is home alone. She has annoyed the
younger children in the house, who complain that the girl in
the white gloves tries to "touch them." She has pushed
a couple of the residents down the staircase, as well as appearing
to the owner's daughter, staring at her malevolently.
To appease Sophia, a friend
of the family brought her a stuffed teddy bear and let her know
that this was for her. The same family friend blessed the house
with holy water, as well as sprinkling salt around the perimeter
of the house. This was not the first house blessing performed-
the house had actually been blessed professionally prior to
all of these events.
Beginning our investigation,
Todd went alone upstairs with some equipment. The family, along
with a few neighbors and friends and myself, were talking in
the dining room at the time. We all distinctly heard a young
girl sobbing loudly in terror at the foot of the stairs as soon
as Todd was upstairs in "her" room. This was enough
to make all of us jump! It is unfortunate that we had just begun
the investigations, so we did not yet have the recorder set
up.
During the investigation, Sophia hid in the closet most of the
time, traveling back and forth between 2 rooms. She responded
through the EMF meter quite a bit, and seemed interested in
our equipment. However, it was obvious that she couldn't wait
for us to leave and did not respond when I asked her if she'd
like us to come back.
This was a tough house
to investigate. You want to go into a situation like this and
just tell the little brat to knock it off, give her a paranormal
spanking, and order her that it's time to move on. You wish
you could go in and snap your fingers and make everything okay
in the house so that the residences would not have to walk on
eggshells due to their bratty little ghostie. There's so much
you would like to be able to do, so that when you left you could
say to the owners, "The house is clean- I took care of
it. She won't bother you anymore." Oh, how I wish I had
that much power!
Unfortunately, threatening
or trying to dispose of this stubborn little sprite would certainly
only make activity worse. Already she felt threatened by the
daughter of the household, who is just about the same age as
Sophia (in her corruptible state, mind you).
In this case you have
a psychological power-play going on between the living and the
dead with Sophia always competing so she's "in-the-lead."
Trying to explain to Sophia that she's dead and that her mommy
and daddy are waiting for her on the other side would be useless.
It is a fact that Sophia is feeding off of the fear she is creating,
and is waaaayy to pleased with these reactions
to decide to go anywhere else.
Not knowing what her LIVING
home life may have been like, I can only speculate that there
may have been an abusive situation that could now cause her
much jealousy and malicious intent.
We leave houses with a
situation like this feeling a little helpless- weighing the
odds and trying to figure out the best route to take that would
help the family. My main concern is if we go back, we could
rile her up and then she will know that the family wants her
OUT. I don't want that to happen- but I also don't want Sophia
to stay in control of the situation. Since we don't live in
the house, telling the residents not to let her get to them
and to not be fearful of her is easy for all of us to say. It
puts us in a quandary.
An exorcism, although
not surprising if one has been performed in the house by now,
could make activity lessen for a while as Sophia would lay low
until she felt safe enough to return. Depending on Sophia's
belief system, this could be an effective way of removing her
presence
or not.
One can only hope that
Sophia will get tired of playing GOD.
But being that powerful
would be quite a rush- especially for an angry, lonely, frustrated
(and deceased) twelve-year old girl. Hopefully, she'll get bored
with the game she's created, and eventually calm down.
**We want to thank
the family for their trust & hospitality and for allowing
us in to invade their home and speak to Sophia.**
