Investigation Results: Ritual activity detected as well as the presence of spirits "invited" through the use of these rituals. Huge, dense, bright Orbs were received in the Battery Russell. EMF Meters were up to 7-12 milligauss in certain locations. There is no electricity or wiring at the Battery Russell- it is all concrete. Audio during the video taping revealed voices of a lady sighing heavily, and a man arguing, as well as clanging noises. None of this was audibly heard at the time. The wreck of the Peter Iredale is not haunted, just very cool.

Haunted: Yes, but probably all residual. No conscious ghosts were detected except for the elementals present.

Originally called Fort at Point Adams, and garrisoned in 1863, Fort Stevens was the harbor mine depot during WWII. The Battery Russell is well to the south of the rest of the batteries; facing the ocean instead of the Columbia River. In 1942, Battery Russell was the only continental U.S. seacoast fortification to be shelled by an enemy vessel and was fired upon by a Japanese submarine. All these shells missed (since the sub was out of range) and Fort Stevens did not return fire.

Legend claims that the image of a man appears periodically with a bright flashlight, performing a sentinel along the walkway of the Battery Russell. One can hear the sounds of chains clanging when he appears.

It was apparent upon our visit to Fort Stevens, that some of the Batteries have been the chosen location of ritual activity. This immediately causes one to feel severe and unusual unsettledness. Because of this activity, we feel that Fort Stevens may be haunted not by the spirits of men who have died there, but by wandering elementals and spirits who were called into this world and not returned. There were certain locations in the Battery Russell where Martina refused to go any further- not out of fear, but of the severe and unnatural negativity of the area. We speculate that ritual activity had recently taken place in these areas.

However, we did find an extreme amount of paranormal activity in the small Battery level with the parking lot, especially in the evening after 8:00 pm.

We were rewarded photographically upon our arrival by one of the biggest and brightest Orbs we’d ever seen. It was certainly not dust or a camera glitch- the interior of this Battery was damp, but not wet. Plus, we snapped this photo before we even entered the Battery itself.

Upon our review of our video taken at this Battery, we were surprised to hear muffled voices in the background, which we found intriguing, as we were the only people there at the time; we also heard a clanging sound on the video stream, but it was very faint.

EMF meters went up to 12.00 in this location, whether we got an Orb on film or not. And as mentioned above, we did get EVP recorded on our stream of video.

A very close distance from the Battery Russell, is The Wreck of the Peter Iredale- a British ship that grounded in 1906.

If you are visiting Fort Stevens, make sure you go a past the Battery Russell toward the beach parking lot, and walk down to the ocean’s edge. You will not be disappointed- the skeleton of this ship is truly a haunting image!
